There is no room tax except for Chilean residents (tax of 19%). Located in the heart of Cerro Alegre and facing an impressive view of the Bay of Valparaíso, Casa Higueras is the first boutique + design hotel to open in this port town. Following a careful restoration, this 1920s mansion has been converted into a charming hotel with the best of the old and new. The hotel occupies five floors of the original mansion, with twenty guestrooms in different categories:Traditional, Premium Superior, Premium and Suite, all designed with good taste and elegance. The rooms are unique in floor layout and have a comfortable modern feel. Most of the rooms have individual terraces with views of the Valparaíso bay, the Andes or the Concepción Hills. There is a rooftop terrace with a 360 degree view of the area and, at the garden level, a spectacular pool with lounge chairs and spa. The Montealegre restaurant serves a contemporary cuisine using regional and local products with an emphasis on seafood. It offers a good array of Chilean wines that can be enjoyed in the interior salon or on the open-air terrace. This hotel has reduced parking space at the hotel but a secure parking is a couple of streets away from the main door. The hotel has access to good restaurants in the vicinity and to the funicular that allows easy access to the flat port area.

It was here, beginning in the middle of the 19th century, that English and German immigrants built their homes and surrounded them with beautiful gardens, which gave way to the name Cerro Alegre (Cheerful Hill). The hotel is located steps from the Yugoslavo Walkway and the century-old El Peral funicular, in a city zone declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
